The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lander Waugh couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After a rather tough play, Montt FC's Abundio Schneider got a free kick in the 51st minute. Manuel Vivar might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Escerza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manuel Vivar ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Manuel Vivar put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Fernando Escerza. Manuel Vivar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Escerza having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Coyanco's goalkeeper Fernando Escerza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Vivar. In the 75th minute, Manuel Vivar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Coyanco's Efraín Dibarrart got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Efraín Dibarrart received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute.
