Juan Pablo Durán was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 14 minutes into the match. 14 minutes into the game, one of CF Universidad de Chile:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Arcadio Roques could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Silviano Jáuregui made a huge save. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Manu Torres to make the kick off. Arcadio Roques blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Silviano Jáuregui having to make a save. Vincente Florido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Silviano Jáuregui tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CF Universidad de Chile's Manu Torres got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcelo Salas hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, Huiscape's goalkeeper Regino Cea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manu Torres. Manu Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Regino Cea having to interfere. Laureano Rivas kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Manu Torres took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Regino Cea. Regino Cea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. CF Universidad de Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
