In the 18th match minute, Hualaihue FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicodemo Pereira to maneuver through the defense. Hualaihue FC's Lorenzo Villagrán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasco Colimán in the 19th minute of play. Guanacarane's Leonides Urtaza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Guanacarane from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Luis Daroch took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Leonides Urtaza to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Milián Solminihac managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guanacarane's supporters rose to their feet, but Milián Solminihac was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lorenzo Villagrán breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th match minute, Hualaihue FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlín Berganza to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Arnoldo Painecura made the kick off in the second half. Hualaihue FC were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Guanacarane's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Romildo Zegers took the corner. Hualaihue FC's Romildo Zegers was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Leonides Urtaza in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Leonides Urtaza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arnoldo Painecura went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Lorenzo Villagrán showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vasco Colimán in the 60th minute of the match. With a little luck, Hualaihue FC's Lorenzo Villagrán got control of the ball when Milián Solminihac tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leonides Urtaza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 86 played minutes, Hualaihue FC's Francisco José Coloma shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leonides Urtaza came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hualaihue FC reached it. Luis Daroch struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Leonides Urtaza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hualaihue FC. The supporters of Hualaihue FC booed when Guanacarane was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theobald Jaramillo didn't get a good kick on the ball.
