A wasted opportunity for Penalolen. 15 minutes into the game, Quim Maschke was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Penalolen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cartajena FC the free kick. A collision led to Penalolen getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Quim Maschke hit a great ball. Reces Celedón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Esteban Valdivieso in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Alcadio Cobo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vicente Bacciarini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alcadio Cobo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Florencio Bear tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 minutes, Mauro Rosas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cartajena FC and the Penalolen players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes Cartajena FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Rosas. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alcadio Cobo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Florencio Bear made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alcadio Cobo in the 52nd minute of play. Cartajena FC's Reces Celedón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Israel Lucero in the 53rd minute of play. Vicente Bacciarini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Florencio Bear read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. The referee gave Quim Maschke a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The audience was convinced that Vicente Bacciarini's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Florencio Bear was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. In the 83rd minute, Jose Esteban Valdivieso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Cartajena FC's Vicente Bacciarini got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 94 played minutes Penalolen got a freekick which was hit by Velasco Andina. Alcadio Cobo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Florencio Bear having to make a save. The Penalolen supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Penalolen would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
