In the 20th match minute, Lazo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leovigildo Labra to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristóbal Bazan in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mario Jesus Menares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Lazo's zone, Cristóbal Bazan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mario Jesus Menares came out of the goal and Cristóbal Bazan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 played minutes Lazo got a freekick which was hit by Abelardo Albarracin. Quim Jorge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelino Armijo having to interfere. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Bocatoma AFC's Cristóbal Bazan in the 33rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Mario Jesus Menares was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Lazo through an amazing save. In the 34th minute, Miguel Ángel Sandiford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Lazo's Juan Raúl Martos got a free kick in the 36th minute. When Cristóbal Bazan came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Bocatoma AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóbal Bazan couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Bocatoma AFC booed when Lazo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Constantino Villarroel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angelino Armijo made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Quim Jorge sent off a good shot on target. Quim Jorge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Quim Jorge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lazo's supporters rose to their feet, but Quim Jorge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelino Armijo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóbal Bazan in the 92nd minute of play forced Lazo's goalkeeper Mario Jesus Menares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
