Maquegua FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano White was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Puchurca's zone, Mariano White stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Santiago Pairoa came out of the goal and Mariano White tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mariano White's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Santiago Pairoa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Maquegua FC's Marcos Maggiora pulled a muscle in his back after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Marcelo Retana fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Puchurca's protests and gave Marcelo Retana a yellow card for diving instead. After 68 played minutes Puchurca got a freekick which was hit by Marcelo Retana.
