Gerard Barainca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Leal in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gerard Barainca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 41st minute Aníbal Señoret shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerard Barainca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42ndth minute of the game Tobías Aramayo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Football Fortress's Gerard Barainca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Diego Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Football Fortress's Andoni Arredondo got a free kick in the 49th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

After a defensive mix-up in Football Fortress's zone, Aníbal Señoret stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerard Barainca came out of the goal and Aníbal Señoret tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Franco canadience's Marc Abrigo was substituted for Tobías Aramayo. In the 60th minute, Aníbal Señoret fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Gerard Barainca, passed just outside the right post. Gerard Barainca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Leal in the 61st minute.
