Carlo Matetich was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Carlo Matetich came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Universidad de Chile's Hernán Pablo. But to his dismay, Hernán Pablo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Hernán Pablo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Edin Džeko made a precise shot to the right of Carlo Matetich. Valpo UXX's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Valpo UXX's zone, Benedicto Alpi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlo Matetich came out of the goal and Benedicto Alpi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valiente Passalacqua charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valiente Passalacqua the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 40 played minutes Valpo UXX got a freekick which was hit by Valiente Passalacqua. 41 minutes into the match, Edin Džeko notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Valpo UXX's Carlo Matetich. Carlo Matetich was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edin Džeko in the 45th minute of play forced Valpo UXX's goalkeeper Carlo Matetich to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hernán Pablo to make the kick off. In the 71st minute Hernán Pablo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlo Matetich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Luis Rueda's late challenge caught a Universidad de Chile's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Ignacio Cuadrado was slow to take the kick. During this time Universidad de Chile's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Juan Ignacio Cuadrado almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Valpo UXX's Carlo Matetich did a great save. In the 89th minute of the match Güven Ocakçı sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlo Matetich skillfully saved the ball. In the 94th minute, Universidad de Chile's Hernán Pablo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Carlo Matetich. Carlo Matetich yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Universidad de Chile's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
