Lois Campillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 17 minutes into the game, Zenón Granados was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Melosas AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Celestial Lion the free kick. A nice corner shot did that Bermejo Schlubach got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wal Gold quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Antúnez in the 30th minute of play forced The Celestial Lion's goalkeeper Alberto Poletti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to The Celestial Lion getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Marcelo Salas hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute, The Celestial Lion's Marcelo Salas fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal, but it hit the crossbar and went out into the crowd. Wal Gold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yüksel Karadeniz in the 35th minute of play. When Yüksel Karadeniz came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the The Celestial Lion fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yüksel Karadeniz couldn't finish the play. Bermejo Schlubach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Wal Gold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 46 minutes, Adriano Antúnez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melosas AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adriano Antúnez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 48 minutes, Marcelo Salas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Celestial Lion and the Melosas AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcelo Salas made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Salas got free with Wal Gold in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute Adriano Antúnez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Poletti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Melosas AFC had played much better football throughout.
