The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the game, Marcelo Salas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ariel Bingen. Marcelo Salas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Ernesto Aloisi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alberto Poletti. The Celestial Lion's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernesto Aloisi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, The Celestial Lion's Kamil Grosics got a free kick in the 25th minute. Thiago Gaviria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 27th match minute, The Celestial Lion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tanio Klein to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Ernesto Aloisi sped through The Celestial Lion's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alberto Poletti. Rafa Jackson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Germán Asendegui fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Celestial Lion's protests and gave Germán Asendegui a yellow card for diving instead. Alberto Poletti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Patterson, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute.

The Celestial Lion's Alberto Poletti proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save The Celestial Lion from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago Gaviria in the 55th minute of play forced The Celestial Lion's goalkeeper Alberto Poletti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Odón Ahrens hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. The Celestial Lion's Alberto Poletti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Aloisi in the 64th minute of play. Alberto Poletti made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgilio Buendia in the 85th minute. Marco Patterson hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 89th match minute, Llucura was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Patterson to maneuver through the defense. Llucura's Ariel Bingen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Salas in the 91st minute of play. Jimeno Miquel kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Yüksel Karadeniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Bingen having to interfere. With a little luck, The Celestial Lion's Alberto Poletti got control of the ball when Marco Patterson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Llucura played a much better game than The Celestial Lion and deserved their victory. The The Celestial Lion players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
