Tom Howard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guntademaro Goyenechea in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tom Howard saved Teja Independiente from getting behind. 17 minutes into the match, Teja Independiente's goalkeeper Tom Howard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Apolo Irigoyen. A collision led to General Velásquez getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Anselmo Johans hit a great ball. Luiz Fernando Cardoso made in the 20th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Apolo Irigoyen. 21 minutes into the match, José Marcelo Vildosola notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of General Velásquez's Henry Tucknott. Henry Tucknott was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tom Howard was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Apolo Irigoyen capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Apolo Irigoyen really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Guntademaro Goyenechea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Tom Howard made a huge save. After 29 minutes Teja Independiente's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Renato Goycolea who took care of the corner kick. General Velásquez's Renato Goycolea was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tom Howard in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 30 minutes into the match, Teja Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Guntademaro Goyenechea came free, but Tom Howard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henry Tucknott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduard Messia, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roque Dittborn in the 33rd minute of play forced General Velásquez's goalkeeper Henry Tucknott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute Guntademaro Goyenechea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Howard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henry Tucknott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Marcelo Vildosola in the 37th minute of the match. Apolo Irigoyen came free with the goalkeeper in the 38th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tom Howard could save by the left post. 43 minutes into the match, Teja Independiente's goalkeeper Tom Howard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Renato Goycolea. Tom Howard made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guntademaro Goyenechea in the 44th minute of play. Anselmo Johans's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tom Howard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Tom Howard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guntademaro Goyenechea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

General Velásquez's Gustav Tidéksson was substituted for Marciano Gibson. Guntademaro Goyenechea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Guntademaro Goyenechea managed to get in a good position for a shot. General Velásquez's supporters rose to their feet, but Guntademaro Goyenechea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tom Howard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 56th minute, Guntademaro Goyenechea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The General Velásquez fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 60 minutes into the game, General Velásquez's Guntademaro Goyenechea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom Howard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. After a rather tough play, General Velásquez's Apolo Irigoyen got a free kick in the 64th minute. Tom Howard came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by General Velásquez's Guntademaro Goyenechea. But to his dismay, Guntademaro Goyenechea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. General Velásquez's Johny De Raeijmaecker was substituted for Renato Goycolea. The General Velásquez fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when General Velásquez's Guntademaro Goyenechea looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to General Velásquez getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Gustav Tidéksson hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Anselmo Johans in the 78th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Teja Independiente's Abdón Baros. 82 minutes into the match, Teja Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Vicente Squella came free, but Tom Howard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guntademaro Goyenechea in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tom Howard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 87th minute Guntademaro Goyenechea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Howard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tom Howard dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. General Velásquez fully deserved thier win.
