In the 35th minute René Puente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vinos Garland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germán Esteban in the 36th minute of play forced Ballet Azul's goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romeo Passi kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Zygmunt Pieprz kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. José Luis Chilavert was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Germán Esteban. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. René Puente was the one to do the kick off. José Luis Chilavert didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juan Estevan Maettig went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eladio Ulloa in the 67th minute of play forced Los Andes Hotspur's goalkeeper Vinos Garland to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ballet Azul's Odín Enríquez was substituted for Eulalio Callejas. A collision led to Los Andes Hotspur getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Efraín Jorge hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juan Estevan Maettig in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Luis Chilavert prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 84th minute, Ballet Azul's Eladio Ulloa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vinos Garland. Vinos Garland yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Juan Estevan Maettig took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Luis Chilavert. José Luis Chilavert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. 90 minutes into the match, Los Andes Hotspur's goalkeeper Vinos Garland had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Odín Enríquez. Vinos Garland showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from René Puente, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Los Andes Hotspur's Vinos Garland proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Los Andes Hotspur from getting a goal against them. José Luis Chilavert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efraín Jorge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
