Quaitiba's Natanael Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo de Almeida in the 7th minute of play. Carlos Eduardo de Almeida might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Natanael Mello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Eduardo de Almeida ran back to his position shaking his head. With his leg Natanael Mello managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Guaraipos FC's Geovanni Reis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 13th match minute, Quaitiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leandro Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes into the game, Geovanni Reis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Natanael Mello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iuri Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Natanael Mello made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Geovanni Reis sent off a good shot on target. Geovanni Reis scored 4-0 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Natanael Mello, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Guaraipos FC's Geovanni Reis got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Quaitiba defense, Geovanni Reis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Natanael Mello. The Quaitiba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Natanael Mello should have stopped the shot. 44 minutes into the game, Carlos Eduardo de Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guaraipos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quaitiba the free kick. The supporters of Quaitiba booed when Guaraipos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramón Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Eduardo de Almeida to strike the kick off in the second half.
