Faustão de Brito charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canarias SC's goalkeeper Fernando Azevedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Prego AD's Rubinho de Sena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Prego AD from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Osvaldinho Veloso got free with Rubinho de Sena in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo de Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 31 played minutes Canarias SC got a freekick which was hit by João Paulo Pimenta. Rubinho de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Guedes in the 36th minute of play. When Durval Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Canarias SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durval Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Erasmo de Sena struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Fernando Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Prego AD.

When Canarias SC's Osvaldinho Veloso in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
