Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Manoel Passos started the match with the kick off. After having played for 7 minutes, Rafael Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Geovânio Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armandinho Urbano in the 9th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Manoel Passos made a precise shot to the right of Geovânio Perez. Futuro's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Geovânio Perez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manoel Passos in the 21st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Manoel Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cruzeiro EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Manoel Passos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geovânio Perez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Geovânio Perez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armandinho Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 32nd minute Eduardo Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gildo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro EC's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Teles came free, but Gildo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovânio Perez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Manoel Passos went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Geovânio Perez came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Cruzeiro EC's Armandinho Urbano. But to his dismay, Armandinho Urbano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Manoel Passos dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Geovânio Perez, 0-5. After 58 minutes, Jeremias de Godoy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Futuro and the Cruzeiro EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Aírton de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Armandinho Urbano got free with Geovânio Perez in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 67 minutes, Washington Zonta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Futuro and the Cruzeiro EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th match minute, Futuro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Washington Zonta to maneuver through the defense. Armandinho Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovânio Perez having to interfere. 77 minutes into the game, one of Futuro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Bruninho Paulista placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro EC's Rafael Lima got a free kick in the 82nd minute. With his leg Geovânio Perez managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Cruzeiro EC's Armandinho Urbano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manoel Passos in the 85th minute of play forced Futuro's goalkeeper Geovânio Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute Eduardo Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gildo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovânio Perez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manoel Passos, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. When the match was over Cruzeiro EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Futuro throughout the match.
