The referee ignored Teixera's protests and gave Victor Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. After 8 played minutes Teixera got a freekick which was hit by Victor Baptista. Teixera's Umberto Paulista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeu Guedes in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th match minute, Clevlandia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo de Moraes to maneuver through the defense. Michel Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that José Terra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michel Novaes was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. 25 minutes into the game, Romeu Guedes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alan Couto couldn't finish the play. Alan Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Clevlandia SS's zone, José Terra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michel Novaes came out of the goal and José Terra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hugo de Moraes hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Terra was the one to do the kick off. Alan Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Michel Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Clevlandia SS's Romeu Guedes in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Teixera's goalie prevented a goal. Michel Novaes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Terra's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 74th match minute, Clevlandia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Travassos to maneuver through the defense. Umberto Paulista made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roger Torres in the 77th minute. When Victor Baptista was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. After 83 played minutes Teixera got a freekick which was hit by Victor Baptista. In the 90th minute, José Terra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Neves was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 91st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Clevlandia SS's Roger Torres got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeu Guedes in the 97th minute of play forced Teixera's goalkeeper Umberto Paulista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
