In the 39th minute Hílton Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guga Messias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Manoel Salgado was shown his second yellow card after 70 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Jardinopolis EC were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Catone's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Valdemar Mota took the corner. Waldemar Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Brito in the 88th minute of the match. A collision led to Catone getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Albertino Freitas hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Mota got free with César Correia in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hílton Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Correia having to interfere.
