If Luciano de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edinho Carioca was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 93 minutes into the match. In the 93rd minute, one of Nazaret SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Nazaret SC. When the match had been going on for 96 minutes, Tigre's Luiz Fernando Varela got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Belmiro Luz. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
