If Nuno Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Proença hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. River Pirituba's Aleandro Nunes got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 24th minute Tadeu Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Batista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. River Pirituba's Samuel Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato do Vale in the 26th minute of play. Afonsinho Neiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Gláuber Paranaense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Samuel Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nuno Meirelles got free with Eduardo Neves in the 49th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Renato do Vale was the one to do the kick off. Eduardo Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo de Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aleandro Nunes struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Eduardo Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Pirituba. 63 minutes into the match, River Pirituba's Nuno Meirelles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eduardo Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 64 minutes into the match, River Pirituba's goalkeeper Samuel Batista had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tadeu Arce. Eduardo Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Meirelles in the 67th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Shaktar Dos Pampas's goal looked a bit too open when Aleandro Nunes came free, but Eduardo Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 74 minutes, Nuno Meirelles made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Shaktar Dos Pampas's Eduardo Neves tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Aleandro Nunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. After 79 minutes of play, River Pirituba's Nuno Meirelles made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eduardo Neves was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 86th minute Aleandro Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Nuno Meirelles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Pirituba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nuno Meirelles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Aleandro Nunes notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Shaktar Dos Pampas's Eduardo Neves. Eduardo Neves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Eduardo Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. River Pirituba had played much better football throughout.
