The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Federico Nicolini was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Murillo Leão showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Alvorada SS's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Rius came free, but Nilton Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Dênis Messias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd match minute, Alvorada SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Couto to maneuver through the defense. When Herminio Rius came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Guiricema FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Herminio Rius couldn't finish the play. Herminio Rius recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Alvorada SS getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Luís Eduardo de Barros hit a great ball. Federico Nicolini made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Vitinho Britto sent off a good shot on target. Guiricema FC's Federico Nicolini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Guiricema FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Alvorada SS's Murillo Leão got a free kick in the 39th minute. After some careless play in the Alvorada SS defense, Herminio Rius kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nilton Mota. The Alvorada SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nilton Mota should have stopped the shot. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Herminio Rius to strike the kick off in the second half. Federico Nicolini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitinho Britto, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Herminio Rius in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nilton Mota prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Arlindo Maranhense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Federico Nicolini was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Herminio Rius took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nilton Mota. Nilton Mota dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After 72 minutes, Murillo Leão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvorada SS and the Guiricema FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Herminio Rius, 73 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arlindo Maranhense in the 79th minute of play forced Guiricema FC's goalkeeper Federico Nicolini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dênis Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Herminio Rius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvorada SS's Nilton Mota proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Alvorada SS from getting a goal against them. Herminio Rius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilton Mota having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Herminio Rius got free with Nilton Mota in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 87 minutes, Luís Eduardo de Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvorada SS and the Guiricema FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guiricema FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
