An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Loyola in the 12th minute of play forced Rio Preto F. C.'s goalkeeper Luís Paulo Leme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nico Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Lessa's Dráusio Mendes got control of the ball when Hamílton Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rio Preto F. C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hermínio de Godoy in the 17th minute. The corner ended in Hermínio de Godoy almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Lessa's Dráusio Mendes did a great save. The supporters of Lessa booed when Rio Preto F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nico Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Teles in the 24th minute of play forced Lessa's goalkeeper Dráusio Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If André Luís dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Erivaldo Branco kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Hermínio de Godoy sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Lessa's Dráusio Mendes didn't even have to move. Geovânio Pontes hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Elder Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Luís Paulo Leme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elder Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Nico Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute of the match, Patrick Vergílio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dráusio Mendes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Nico Rodrigues struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Dráusio Mendes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rio Preto F. C.. 47 minutes into the game, Paulo Renato Sabóia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lessa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rio Preto F. C. the free kick. In the 47th minute, Paulo Renato Sabóia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, Hermínio de Godoy sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Dráusio Mendes threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Hermínio de Godoy this time. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nico Rodrigues to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hamílton Abreu during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd match minute, Rio Preto F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamílton Abreu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Loyola in the 55th minute of play forced Rio Preto F. C.'s Nico Rodrigues made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dráusio Mendes was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 76th minute of the match, Luís Loyola tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Luís Paulo Leme saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rio Preto F. C.'s Luís Paulo Leme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Rio Preto F. C. from getting a goal against them. In the 78th minute, Elder Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Júnior Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dráusio Mendes having to interfere. When André Luís dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Rio Preto F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Luís dos Santos couldn't finish the play. Nico Rodrigues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dráusio Mendes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Lessa's Erivaldo Branco got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Erivaldo Branco off the ground. Erivaldo Branco hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Rodrigues in the 95th minute of play forced Lessa's goalkeeper Dráusio Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dráusio Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júnior Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Rio Preto F. C. had played much better football throughout.
