If Luís Eduardo Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, jogo aonde fc's Paulo Luz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Pedro Paulo Gomes might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Carlos Salgado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Paulo Gomes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 23rd minute, Adhemar Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 25th minute Paulo Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Siqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Siqueira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edu Mazza in the 26th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Fluminense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Costa came free, but Daniel Siqueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudinei Loureiro was the one to do the kick off. Luís Eduardo Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Carlos Salgado having to interfere. When Pedro Paulo Gomes came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Fluminense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Paulo Gomes couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Claudinei Loureiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zé Carlos Salgado was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Zé Carlos Salgado was out of position in the 91 minute of play, and Fred Vinhas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fred Vinhas really showed his touch with that goal: 5-2. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. jogo aonde fc were victorious despite being under pressure from Fluminense FC for much of the match.
