With a little luck, Corinthians MZC's Carlinhos da Silveira got control of the ball when Erasmo Botelho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Erasmo Botelho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlinhos da Silveira. Corinthians MZC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo Botelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jardel Favoretto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dejan Petković in the 28th minute of play. Fernandão Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Santana hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Dejan Petković in the 51st minute of play forced RB Taubaté's goalkeeper Jardel Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agnaldo Leite came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jardel Favoretto could save by the left post. In the 56th minute, Fabrício Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Erasmo Botelho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlinhos da Silveira. When Maurinho de Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RB Taubaté's protests and gave Maurinho de Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to RB Taubaté getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Rui de Godoi hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Dejan Petković managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corinthians MZC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dejan Petković was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jardel Favoretto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd minute Fernandão Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Bernardino Henry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians MZC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RB Taubaté the free kick.
