The supporters of Assacaio booed when Providencia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rômulo Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tony Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tony Teixeira in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kléber Rossi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 45th match minute, Assacaio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Falcão to maneuver through the defense. Teodoro Pombal tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Kléber Rossi. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-1 in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hernani Félix stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Humberto Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enio Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rony Britto in the 53rd minute of the match. The supporters of Assacaio booed when Providencia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rômulo Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Providencia's Tony Teixeira got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kléber Rossi made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Tony Teixeira sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Assacaio's Jano Meira got a free kick in the 59th minute. When Tony Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Providencia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tony Teixeira couldn't finish the play. When Jano Meira fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Assacaio's protests and gave Jano Meira a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Assacaio getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Jano Meira hit a great ball. Humberto Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Enio Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rony Britto in the 67th minute of play. Enio Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Paiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jano Meira was shown his second yellow card after 69 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 71 minutes into the match, Assacaio's goalkeeper Kléber Rossi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tony Teixeira. Tony Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rony Britto's late challenge caught a Providencia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
