A beautiful save bye Itacoatiara's goalie prevented a goal. After some careless play in the Itacoatiara defense, Gugu Custódio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simão Senna. The Itacoatiara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simão Senna should have stopped the shot. After recieving a nice pass, FLAMENGO's Reginaldo Diniz tried to score from far away in the 25th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When FLAMENGO's Rubens Donatello in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Itacoatiara's goalie prevented a goal. In the 29th minute Rubens Donatello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubinho Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Simão Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gugu Custódio, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. 38 minutes into the match, FLAMENGO's goalkeeper Guga Gonçalves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Betão Mumbach. Simão Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubens Donatello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Rubinho Bittencourt fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FLAMENGO's protests and gave Rubinho Bittencourt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd minute, Rubinho Bittencourt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, FLAMENGO's Guga Gonçalves got control of the ball when Betão Mumbach tried to sneak it across the goal line. Franklin da Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Simão Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gugu Custódio in the 47th minute of play forced Itacoatiara's goalkeeper Simão Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Hernani Pirani hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Simão Senna acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 52nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Rubens Donatello. In the 54th match minute, Itacoatiara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival Ramos to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubens Donatello in the 57th minute of play forced Itacoatiara's goalkeeper Simão Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gugu Custódio got free with Simão Senna in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Simão Senna made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Gugu Custódio sent off a good shot on target. Simão Senna didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rubens Donatello went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. 83 minutes into the match, Itacoatiara's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Donatello came free, but Simão Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Itacoatiara's Simão Senna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Itacoatiara from getting a goal against them. Franklin da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Senna having to interfere.
