Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo dos Santos in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Afonso de Lima prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Diamantino Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zé Augusto Senna in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joel Guedes saved Hail Rio Preto from getting behind. Washington Carneiro took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joel Guedes. Joel Guedes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 20 played minutes Pirabibu got a freekick which was hit by Haroldo Gonçalves. Hail Rio Preto's Joel Guedes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington Carneiro in the 25th minute of play. Joel Guedes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Washington Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute, Zé Augusto Senna made a precise shot to the right of Joel Guedes. Hail Rio Preto's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Hail Rio Preto's Elói Mattos got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivo dos Santos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Afonso de Lima made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Ivo dos Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hail Rio Preto's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivo dos Santos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Afonso de Lima breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Elói Mattos came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Hail Rio Preto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elói Mattos couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Ivo dos Santos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Afonso de Lima was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. The Hail Rio Preto players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pirabibu were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Augusto Senna to strike the kick off in the second half. Joel Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Augusto Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. When the match had been going on for 57 minutes, Pirabibu's Emílio Soeiro got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Joel Guedes. With a little luck, Hail Rio Preto's Joel Guedes got control of the ball when Washington Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 62 minutes Hail Rio Preto's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Emílio Soeiro who took care of the corner kick. In the 66th match minute, Pirabibu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani Pontes to maneuver through the defense. When Tomás Custódio fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pirabibu's protests and gave Tomás Custódio a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 played minutes, Hail Rio Preto's Edgard Bastos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Afonso de Lima came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hail Rio Preto reached it. After 82 minutes of play, Hail Rio Preto's Ivo dos Santos made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Afonso de Lima was left in no man's land by his defense there! Diamantino Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Hail Rio Preto fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Hail Rio Preto's Ivo dos Santos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elói Mattos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Afonso de Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute Zé Augusto Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Washington Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Haroldo Gonçalves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Joel Guedes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
