Clemente Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Ricardo Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Augusto dos Santos's late challenge caught a Tarquinho FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José da Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovani Silva in the 40th minute of the match. Vitório Paraense got his second yellow card in the match during the 46th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Clemente Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Ricardo Maranhense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SPARTA F C. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Guilherme Azevedo to make the kick off.
