Domelia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Américo de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Américo de Queiroz to make the kick off. 56 minutes into the game, Jairo do Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carreira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Domelia FC the free kick. In the 57th match minute, Carreira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simão Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute, Claudinei Vides got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wellington Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Pombal in the 64th minute of play. Eugênio Barral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Guga Senna made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Américo de Queiroz in the 69th minute of play forced Carreira's goalkeeper Guga Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Carreira supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Domelia FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Domelia FC.
