Abelardo Cordeiro started the match with the kick off. Fiori Furtado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Barros having to interfere. In the 4th minute, Juvenal Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fiori Furtado in the 5th minute of play forced Ione's goalkeeper Noel Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 6 minutes into the match, Ione's goal looked a bit too open when Fiori Furtado came free, but Noel Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Fonseca's Lauro Batista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Noel Barros narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Igor Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Noel Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fiori Furtado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Fiori Furtado came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Fonseca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fiori Furtado couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Fonseca booed when Ione was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noel Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fiori Furtado in the 29th minute of the match. Gonçalo Reis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Dé Quintal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fonseca's Lauro Batista got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Juvenal Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lauro Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juvenal Ramos during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lauro Batista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Noel Barros made a huge save. In the 47th minute, Joel Diniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fiori Furtado to make the kick off. Noel Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lauro Batista in the 51st minute of play. Joel Diniz hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Noel Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fiori Furtado, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The Fonseca fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Gonçalo Reis was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 87th minute. Ione's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 88 minutes in the game, Abelardo Cordeiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dé Quintal having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ione players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Fonseca.
