In the 11th minute, Clóvis Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the game, Gaucha's Marcelo Souto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jano Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Gaucha's Dráusio Antunes got a free kick in the 17th minute. Tiaraju's Aílton Xavier got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Pedro Pereira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Francisco Guedes in the 19th minute of play. Aílton Xavier might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Pedro Pereira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aílton Xavier ran back to his position shaking his head. Aílton Xavier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro Pereira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. José Pedro Pereira made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Aílton Xavier sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Gaucha getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Dráusio Antunes hit a great ball. João Francisco Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Pereira having to interfere. In the 29thth minute of the game Christiano Terra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tiaraju's Jano Azevedo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aílton Xavier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro Pereira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Jano Azevedo came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Gaucha's Christiano Terra. But to his dismay, Christiano Terra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. A hard shot 38 in the game by Aílton Xavier from a close distance when the talented José Pedro Pereira managed to make a qualified save. Gaucha's players were relieved. Aílton Xavier struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. José Pedro Pereira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tiaraju. Christiano Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Tiaraju players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Gaucha were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Francisco Guedes made a kick off. José Pedro Pereira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Francisco Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Francisco Guedes in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Pedro Pereira saved Gaucha from getting behind. Aílton Xavier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Pedro Pereira came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Tiaraju's João Francisco Guedes. But to his dismay, João Francisco Guedes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. 65 minutes into the game, João Francisco Guedes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. José Pedro Pereira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Gaucha defense, João Francisco Guedes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Pedro Pereira. The Gaucha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Pedro Pereira should have stopped the shot. 73 minutes into the match, João Francisco Guedes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Pedro Pereira. Gaucha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Francisco Guedes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. José Pedro Pereira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Francisco Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After 87 minutes, Vágner Sena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tiaraju and the Gaucha players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 88 played minutes Tiaraju got a freekick which was hit by Vágner Sena. José Pedro Pereira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aílton Xavier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute João Francisco Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Pedro Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Aílton Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiaraju were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gaucha for a fine match.
