Cambiasca's Rui Mangueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Cruz in the 5th minute of play. Luís Gustavo Ortiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manúel Noia having to interfere. Kiko Maranhense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Rui Mangueira made a huge save. In the 14th match minute, Cambiasca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Botelho to maneuver through the defense. In the 17thth minute Kiko Maranhense got a great chance to score trying to place the ball in the top left corner, but Rui Mangueira was prepared and efficiently stopped the ball from getting in. The supporters of Federal F.C. booed when Cambiasca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laerte Valadares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 22 minutes, Kiko Maranhense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Federal F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Kiko Maranhense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Laerte Valadares's late challenge caught a Federal F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laerte Valadares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd match minute, Cambiasca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laerte Valadares to maneuver through the defense. Kiko Maranhense did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Rui Mangueira 25 minutes into the match. In the 29th minute, Federal F.C.'s Kiko Maranhense dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. 33 minutes into the match, Kiko Maranhense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rui Mangueira. Cambiasca's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kiko Maranhense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. 38 minutes into the game, Federal F.C.'s Andrézinho Valladares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Mangueira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Rui Mangueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kiko Maranhense's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute, Cambiasca's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kiko Maranhense fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 46 minutes into the game, Kiko Maranhense lined in a short shot 5-0 behind a frustrated Rui Mangueira. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Gustavo Ortiz to make the kick off. In the 57th minute, Kiko Maranhense ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rui Mangueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. 61 minutes into the match, Cambiasca's goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho Valladares came free, but Rui Mangueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Kiko Maranhense put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Rui Mangueira. In the 68th minute, Kiko Maranhense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Federal F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. Andrézinho Valladares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rui Mangueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Kiko Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Mangueira having to interfere. Rui Mangueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Federal F.C.. In the 89th minute, Andrézinho Valladares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
