Luís Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bebeto Simões having to interfere. NZB's Luís Palmeira got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Luís Palmeira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bebeto Simões. That made the score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. Josué da Rocha hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Moleques FC's Geovani Bittencourt got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 34th minute, Luís Palmeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Flavinho Teixeira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nilmar Berger. NZB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flavinho Teixeira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Geovani Bittencourt hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute Flavinho Teixeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilmar Berger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the game, Eugênio Vasconcelos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. NZB's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Moleques FC the free kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flavinho Teixeira to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Telmo de Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonsinho Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 65 minutes, Eugênio Vasconcelos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. NZB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eugênio Vasconcelos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 68 played minutes NZB got a freekick which was hit by José Carlos Melo. Nilmar Berger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonsinho Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Moleques FC's Flavinho Teixeira was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nilmar Berger in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Bebeto Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Palmeira in the 77th minute of play. When Josué da Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NZB's protests and gave Josué da Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. In the 78th match minute, NZB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Josué da Rocha to maneuver through the defense. 82 minutes into the match, NZB's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Santos came free, but Nilmar Berger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute, Carlinhos Maranhense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nilmar Berger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavinho Teixeira in the 92nd minute.
