The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. José Paraíba charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Paraíba the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Paraíba hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Emanuel Nogueira, 4 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Ciro Rezende managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monlevade SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciro Rezende was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltazar Severo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 22 minutes into the match, Cadete EC's goalkeeper Baltazar Severo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ciro Rezende. Baltazar Severo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Anderson Lucas in the 25th minute. Ciro Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Severo having to interfere. Luciano Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Severo having to interfere. 33 minutes into the game, Lucas Faustino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Carlos Alberto Santos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cadete EC's José Paraíba got his second yellow card of the match in the 40th minute. The referee ordered José Paraíba off the ground. In the 41st match minute, Cadete EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Paraíba to maneuver through the defense. Emanuel Nogueira shot from long distance in the 41st minute, but Baltazar Severo was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Edson Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Baltazar Severo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luciano Linares's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Edson Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ronaldo Moreira to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ciro Rezende in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baltazar Severo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Anderson Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Rezende in the 58th minute of play forced Cadete EC's goalkeeper Baltazar Severo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciro Rezende blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Baltazar Severo having to make a save. Edson Lopes's late challenge caught a Monlevade SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edson Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cadete EC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Edson Lopes hit a great ball. Baltazar Severo came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Monlevade SC's Luciano Linares. But to his dismay, Luciano Linares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Cléberson Marquez hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. In the 67th match minute, Monlevade SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson Lucas to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anderson Lucas during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anderson Lucas hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute, Hílton Donatello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cadete EC's zone, Ciro Rezende stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baltazar Severo came out of the goal and Ciro Rezende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cadete EC's goalkeeper Baltazar Severo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Cadete EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Linares came free, but Baltazar Severo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baltazar Severo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Hugo Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baltazar Severo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Rezende, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Luciano Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Severo having to interfere. A collision led to Cadete EC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Lucas Faustino hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute, Luciano Linares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Baltazar Severo was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. After 97 played minutes Monlevade SC got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Nogueira. Monlevade SC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
