Edvaldo Guerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cayua SS. After having played for 45 minutes, Váldson de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Metropolitano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Váldson de Almeida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Váldson de Almeida blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lino Berger having to make a save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richard de Carvalho made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silvinho Prestes in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edvaldo Guerra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Hélio Vergílio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Váldson de Almeida blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lino Berger having to make a save. Hélio Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Berger having to interfere. Silvinho Prestes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edvaldo Guerra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play.
