The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Elder Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Franjo Martinović sped through Engenhão F.A.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Toninho Azevedo. Dino Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Toninho Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Franjo Martinović in the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of Engenhão F.A. booed when João Buracão FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otávio Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st match minute, Engenhão F.A. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elder Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, João Buracão FC's Percy Sabóia got a free kick in the 24th minute. Engenhão F.A.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Dino Garcia scored to the left of an out of position Toninho Azevedo, making the score, 3-0. Toninho Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franjo Martinović, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After 42 played minutes Franjo Martinović rounded Engenhão F.A.'s defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 4-1. 46 minutes into the game, Vivaldo Hoffmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Engenhão F.A.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave João Buracão FC the free kick. In the 48th minute, João Buracão FC's Dino Garcia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-1.

After 53 minutes of play, João Buracão FC's Dino Garcia made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Toninho Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the Engenhão F.A. defense, Dino Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Toninho Azevedo. The Engenhão F.A. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Toninho Azevedo should have stopped the shot. João Buracão FC's Dino Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of João Buracão FC booed when Engenhão F.A. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vivaldo Hoffmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 79 minutes, Marcus da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Engenhão F.A.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus da Mata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, João Buracão FC's Ştefan Doicaru got control of the ball when Flávio Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. Otávio Maia charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otávio Maia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 82 played minutes João Buracão FC got a freekick which was hit by Otávio Maia. If Dino Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When João Buracão FC's Claudinei Secco in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Engenhão F.A.'s goalie prevented a goal. Toninho Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claudinei Secco's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. If Flávio Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Marcus da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Engenhão F.A. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcus da Mata couldn't finish the play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. João Buracão FC fully deserved thier win.
