The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Mamatos FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Portinha:s goal. José Pedro Travassos had in the 8thth minute some difficulties stopping Carlos Fernando Pimenta's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Mamatos FC's José Pedro Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baltazar Andrade in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Portinha's goal looked a bit too open when Marc Tingberg came free, but Cícero Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th match minute, Mamatos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilson Abreu to maneuver through the defense. Baltazar Andrade struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. José Pedro Travassos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portinha. José Pedro Travassos made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Felippe Seco sent off a good shot on target. José Pedro Travassos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rômulo Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Baltazar Andrade to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felippe Seco in the 55th minute of play forced Mamatos FC's goalkeeper José Pedro Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rômulo Moura hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. 58 minutes into the match, Portinha's goalkeeper Cícero Tinoco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marc Tingberg. Baltazar Andrade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro Travassos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. After 63 played minutes Mamatos FC got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Abreu. With his leg Cícero Tinoco managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Mamatos FC's Marc Tingberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ricardo Paiva's late challenge caught a Mamatos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Paiva helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mamatos FC booed when Portinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 78 minutes, Rômulo Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rômulo Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Mamatos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Andrade came free, but José Pedro Travassos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cícero Tinoco made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Marc Tingberg sent off a good shot on target. In the 89th minute of the match, Marc Tingberg got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cícero Tinoco was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. José Pedro Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felippe Seco in the 92nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Rômulo Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Rômulo Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Pedro Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mamatos FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Portinha.
