The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joélson Vander during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lapinha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joélson Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maximino Virila breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The audience was convinced that Antônio Carlos Marinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jefferson Mineiro was relentless in the 68th minute of the game.
