Adrianinho Travassos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 13th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wellington Amaral. AD Guarulhos's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in AD Guarulhos's zone, Wilton Arantes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wellington Amaral came out of the goal and Wilton Arantes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mário da Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mário da Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th minute, Mário da Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wellington Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilton Arantes in the 17th minute of the match. Mário da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademir Amaral having to interfere. With an all-out effort, AD Guarulhos's Ademir Amaral threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Célio Bueno, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Adrianinho Travassos came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the BAHIA FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrianinho Travassos couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the AD Guarulhos defense, Wilton Arantes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wellington Amaral. The AD Guarulhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wellington Amaral should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The wind increased when Adrianinho Travassos made the kick off in the second half. When Célio Bueno came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the AD Guarulhos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Célio Bueno couldn't finish the play. 59 minutes into the match, Humberto Faria notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of AD Guarulhos's Wellington Amaral. Wellington Amaral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sílvio Favoretto's late challenge caught a BAHIA FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sílvio Favoretto helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to AD Guarulhos getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Sílvio Favoretto hit a great ball. In the 67th match minute, AD Guarulhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luís do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. Willian Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Renatinho Morenos short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Wellington Amaral to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. AD Guarulhos's Sílvio Favoretto got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wilton Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Wellington Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 82 minutes into the game, Severino Motta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AD Guarulhos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BAHIA FC the free kick. Severino Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Wellington Amaral came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by BAHIA FC's Wilton Arantes. But to his dismay, Wilton Arantes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-6. After some careless play in the AD Guarulhos defense, Willian Figueiredo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wellington Amaral. The AD Guarulhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wellington Amaral should have stopped the shot. Wilton Arantes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wellington Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Wilton Arantes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Wellington Amaral when he managed to save the team from getting behind. BAHIA FC played a much better game than AD Guarulhos and deserved their victory. The AD Guarulhos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
