Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Beto Nóbrega started the match with the kick off. After having played for 8 minutes, Jerônimo dos Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SANTIAGO S.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerônimo dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th minute Eduardo Quintal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valério Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mané Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerônimo dos Santos in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valério Bittencourt saved Biruta from getting behind. Nildo Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Garcia in the 39th minute of the match. José Pedro Ortiz scored 1-0 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nildo Goiano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Haroldo dos Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mané Simões stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eduardo Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Valério Bittencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Mané Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Biruta's zone, Eduardo Quintal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valério Bittencourt came out of the goal and Eduardo Quintal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valério Bittencourt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jerônimo dos Santos in the 61st minute. 63 minutes into the match, SANTIAGO S.C's José Veloso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Valério Bittencourt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 63 played minutes Biruta got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Garcia. Mateus Rosa struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Valério Bittencourt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SANTIAGO S.C. 68 minutes into the match, Ronaldão Alvarenga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nildo Goiano. SANTIAGO S.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldão Alvarenga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Eduardo Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rdth minute of the game Mané Simões who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Biruta's Valério Bittencourt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valério Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Veloso in the 75th minute of play. Valério Bittencourt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mané Simões went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Eduardo Quintal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Valério Bittencourt when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 89 played minutes SANTIAGO S.C got a freekick which was hit by Haroldo dos Santos. After having played for 95 minutes, Mané Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SANTIAGO S.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mané Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the SANTIAGO S.C players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
