Ronaldo Costa came out and tried to block the shot, but Hélio Jacinto slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 18th minute. Haroldo Albuquerque kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Antônio de Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29thth minute of the game Tadeu Massa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varnhagen EC's Ronaldo Costa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Patuá EC's Dida Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Netto in the 31st minute of play. Dida Pinheiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Renato Sá hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Dida Pinheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Dedé Palmeira's late challenge caught a Varnhagen EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dedé Palmeira helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71stth minute of the game Tadeu Massa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varnhagen EC's Ronaldo Costa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Armando Netto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Pinheiro having to interfere. In the 77th minute Orlando Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Pinheiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Varnhagen EC booed when Patuá EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauã Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Varnhagen EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Patuá EC throughout the match.
