Vágner Passos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson Sena in the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th match minute, Simplicio EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovânio Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. César Bastos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Simplicio EC's Sebastião Tróia got a free kick in the 20th minute. A collision led to Simplicio EC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Luís Fábio Campidelis hit a great ball. If César Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Simplicio EC's zone, César Bastos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vágner Passos came out of the goal and César Bastos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 43 played minutes Simplicio EC got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Soares. When Atlético Alagoano's César Bastos in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Simplicio EC's goalie prevented a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Diamantino Pombal hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Vágner Passos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Bastos in the 53rd minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, César Bastos notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Simplicio EC's Vágner Passos. Vágner Passos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Simplicio EC's Vágner Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Bastos in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute of the match Atlético Alagoano got a corner. Simplicio EC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Armin Capaldo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Armin Capaldo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Simplicio EC's Vágner Passos did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in Simplicio EC's zone, César Bastos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vágner Passos came out of the goal and César Bastos tried to chip the ball over his head. When Atlético Alagoano's César Bastos in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Atlético Alagoano's Toader Homeag got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, César Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Alagoano's supporters rose to their feet, but César Bastos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vágner Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Atlético Alagoano walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
