Simplicio EC's Doni Falcão was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benedito Cavalcante in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a little luck, Simplicio EC's Vágner Passos got control of the ball when Claudinho Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marquinhos Ribeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marquinhos Ribeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kléberson Freitas struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Vágner Passos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Musquiada FC. When Musquiada FC's Kléberson Freitas in 52 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Vágner Passos guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 54 minutes into the match, Claudinho Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vágner Passos. Simplicio EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudinho Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Kléberson Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vágner Passos having to interfere. Simplicio EC's Vágner Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Castro in the 87th minute of play. Claudinei Andrade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vágner Passos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. 97 minutes into the match, Simplicio EC's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Castro came free, but Vágner Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hortêncio Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Musquiada FC had played much better football throughout.
