Tales Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tales Guerra in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Alberto de Castro saved Dinho FC from getting behind. In the 5th minute Pedro Luiz Gaspar suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Gerson Rosa hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. The supporters of Dinho FC booed when Mantiqueira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nelsinho Capixaba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Hamílton Arantes made a huge save. Willian Goiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Hamílton Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mantiqueira's goalkeeper Hamílton Arantes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 15th match minute, Dinho FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Washington Simões to maneuver through the defense. Dinho FC's Nelsinho Capixaba got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willian Goiano in the 21st minute of play forced Mantiqueira's goalkeeper Hamílton Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genílson de Almeida hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Mantiqueira's Genílson de Almeida got a free kick in the 25th minute. Dinho FC's Nelsinho Capixaba got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donato Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto de Castro having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Donato Gonçalves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Willian Goiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The Dinho FC fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Dinho FC's Nelsinho Capixaba looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Carlos Alberto de Castro made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Donato Gonçalves sent off a good shot on target. In the 61st minute, Mantiqueira's Donato Gonçalves dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelsinho Capixaba in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hamílton Arantes saved Mantiqueira from getting behind. Caio Prata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nelsinho Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Mantiqueira's zone, Willian Goiano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hamílton Arantes came out of the goal and Willian Goiano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
