Gláuber do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zézinho Mota, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Mota in the 27th minute of play forced Lontra's goalkeeper Gláuber do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Jordao booed when Lontra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Paulo de Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Mota in the 42nd minute of play forced Lontra's goalkeeper Gláuber do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Nuno Saldanha cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Gláuber do Nascimento was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rubens Motta to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute Rubens Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeu Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enio Braga took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amadeu Albuquerque. Amadeu Albuquerque dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-5. Rodriguinho Senna hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute of the match Hélder Quadros shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amadeu Albuquerque showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Enio Braga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeu Albuquerque having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Jordao walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
