Betão Queiroz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. João de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Betão Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Silvinho Damião sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Macauzinho's Betão Queiroz didn't even have to move. João de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Charles Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betão Queiroz having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Macauzinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rômulo Leão to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Baianos's João de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão Queiroz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Macauzinho's Sydney Souto got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Betão Queiroz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Charles Chaves went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Baianos's João de Lara got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dráuzio Freire made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wesley Lago in the 28th minute. In the 29thth minute of the game Charles Chaves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macauzinho's Betão Queiroz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39thth minute of the game João de Lara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macauzinho's Betão Queiroz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Macauzinho's zone, João de Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Betão Queiroz came out of the goal and João de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gildo Faustino hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. João de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Chaves in the 54th minute of play forced Macauzinho's goalkeeper Betão Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Júlio Gonçalves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Dráuzio Freire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Macauzinho's Betão Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles Chaves in the 61st minute of play. Waldemar Koehler's late challenge caught a Baianos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Waldemar Koehler helped the player get up and apologised. Téo Albuquerque was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 64 minutes into the match. After 63 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Macauzinho! The audience was convinced that Charles Chaves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Betão Queiroz was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. After 76 played minutes Macauzinho got a freekick which was hit by Romeu Quirino. Charles Chaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Betão Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Betão Queiroz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Baianos's Charles Chaves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão Queiroz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Baianos's zone, Wesley Lago stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dráuzio Freire came out of the goal and Wesley Lago tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Baianos had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
