Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorginho Lago in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emerson Macedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Juvenal de Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Fernando Pimenta in the 42nd minute. Eurico Donato scored 2-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emerson Macedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedrinho Barreto during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
