The referee felt a red card was in order, 20 minutes into the game, when Nestor Nunes put in a rough tackle. 19 minutes into the game, one of Goiás Esporte Clube:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Los Angeles FC a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cláudio Marques, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Goiás Esporte Clube's Pedro Augusto de Mendonça. 0-1.
