Rogério Tróia took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Leonel Sá. DGNB's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Conrado Mota came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the DGNB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Mota couldn't finish the play. In the 24th match minute, DGNB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bebeto Goiano to maneuver through the defense. João Adolfo Ferreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Leonel Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute, João Adolfo Ferreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leonel Sá was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Jerônimo Matos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Armando Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 38th minute, João Adolfo Ferreira fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Leonel Sá, passed just outside the right post. João Adolfo Ferreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Leonel Sá made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Conrado Mota made the kick off in the second half. Leonel Sá showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinaldo de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 60 minutes into the game, João Adolfo Ferreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pompa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DGNB the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in DGNB's zone, João Adolfo Ferreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonel Sá came out of the goal and João Adolfo Ferreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Adolfo Ferreira got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 77th minute, João Adolfo Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reinaldo de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 82 minutes, Sílvio Luís Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pompa and the DGNB players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Pompa getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Sílvio Luís Azevedo hit a great ball. Reinaldo de Castro took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leonel Sá. Leonel Sá dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. José Carlos de Brito struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Leonel Sá didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pompa. Sílvio Luís Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pompa walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
