The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dário Machado during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dário Machado kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Juquinha Espuleta's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrão da Fonseca came free, but Valdemar Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lisandro Micael sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Juquinha Espuleta booed when Martins FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noel Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Valladares in the 15th minute of play. Martins FC's Noel Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Micael in the 17th minute of play. A collision led to Juquinha Espuleta getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Dário Machado hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the game, Geovani Botelho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Valdemar Dias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valdemar Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Tepedino in the 24th minute of the match. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Martins FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gonçalo Valladares was slow to take the kick. During this time Juquinha Espuleta's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Gonçalo Valladares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Martins FC's Noel Barreto did a great save. When Cristóvão de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Juquinha Espuleta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóvão de Toledo couldn't finish the play. 39 minutes into the game, Percival Luz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Valdemar Dias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 42 minutes into the match, Juquinha Espuleta's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Tepedino came free, but Valdemar Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 46 minutes of play, Martins FC's Pedrão da Fonseca made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valdemar Dias was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geovani Botelho made a kick off. A collision led to Juquinha Espuleta getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Dário Machado hit a great ball. After having played for 67 minutes, Cristóvão de Toledo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juquinha Espuleta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristóvão de Toledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 74th match minute, Juquinha Espuleta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dário Machado to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Percival Luz got free with Valdemar Dias in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Cristóvão de Toledo sped through Martins FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Noel Barreto. After a defensive mix-up in Martins FC's zone, Lisandro Micael stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Noel Barreto came out of the goal and Lisandro Micael tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valério de Carvalho hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. If Lisandro Micael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdemar Dias made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Percival Luz sent off a good shot on target. The Martins FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
