Piedade FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Renatinho Leite was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Renato Paes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Michel Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Familia Vangola's Michel Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renatinho Leite in the 19th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Familia Vangola was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafa Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Joel Moura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sydney Camargo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel Braga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Renatinho Leite's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. After some careless play in the Familia Vangola defense, Renato Paes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Michel Braga. The Familia Vangola fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Michel Braga should have stopped the shot. Renatinho Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Renato Paes to strike the kick off in the second half. Renato Paes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michel Braga having to interfere. In the 81st minute Renato Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michel Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Renatinho Leite might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Michel Braga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Renatinho Leite ran back to his position shaking his head. If Renato Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michel Braga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Renatinho Leite in the 91st minute. Ciro Neto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Moura having to make a save.
